Description
● Used to determine the thermal conductivity of metals.
● Comprises of 5 different metal rods of equal length, with cavities and the ends, mounted on a common hub and spread out equally radially. The hub is fixed to a wooden handle through the 6th rod.
● On heating the hub over a flame, the wax contained in the cavities of the different metals melt at different times thereby showing that different metals have different thermal conductivities.
● Metal rods used: Aluminium, Brass, Copper, Mild Steel, Stainless Steel.
